Growing up in the heart of NYC I pride myself on recognizing some really good eats. Ok, sometimes it’s a burden. Not my fault! Sure I may not have any ‘professional’ training but as a novice gourmet foodie, whose frequented such places as Nobu, Momofuku, Le Bernardin, and Jean Georges I think I can spot ’em. I find myself ever ‘Epicurious’ and a great restaurant is always paramount on my list. Now that I live in sunny Jupiter, FL one of my favorite past times is still scoping out healthy eats with unique menus, who staff genuinely nice people who also love great food and offer the best, most delectable, overall healthy cuisine, sourced responsibly. Here are a few of my top picks in Palm Beach County. Mind you, I haven’t been here long and I’m still making my way through! Emphasis is always on nutritious, fresh and delicious ingredients, with a unique spin on flavors and a cool, unique atmosphere shakes things up too! I’m not talking your run of the mill salad, soup, and sandwich joint here! I like places with some distinction and pizzazz! Opened by real estate developer Mitchell Robbins and Chef Joey Giannuzzi, Farmer’s Table is a healthy, delicious and affordable dining destination in Boca Raton. The warm and welcoming restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers take-out options. Dishes center on fresh, seasonal ingredients in their purest form, devoid of excess fat, salt, processing, toxins and all the other extras you don’t want. No butter or cream is used in many dishes, and the restaurant does not have a deep fat fryer or microwave.
Farmer’s Table caters to the whole family, featuring a special, healthy kids menu while accommodating such diets as gluten-free, Paleo, vegan and vegetarian. Their deliciously creative menu has something for everyone, from Vegans to avid carnivores, and many of their foods are sourced locally for authentic farm-to-table freshness. Their sandwiches, paninis, and wraps are splendid with a side of their homemade potato salad, or slaw. Healthy, inexpensive, everyday fare is what’s on the menu at Prosecco Café in Palm Beach Gardens, the latest venture from Avi Sekerel, also proprietor of Saquella Café in Boca Raton. As befitting its name after Italy’s iconic sparkling wine, Prosecco puts a more upscale, European Café Bistro spin on things, with granite-topped tables, leather chairs and variety of artwork. There’s indoor and outdoor seating for 140, plus beer, wine, and a full bar.
In keeping with the restaurant’s healthful orientation, it’s a “No Fry” and “No Processed Food” zone at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and tapas. Featured dishes include a Tuscan omelet with pesto, brie and caramelized onions; roast beef sandwiches from in-house roasted beef; pistachio-crusted grouper with mango salsa, and seared Scottish salmon with spinach and red potatoes, and for sweet endings, a variety of desserts, which are made daily by the in house Pastry Chef.
